Python Text Books

We’ll be working with a few text books to get started. They are available online. You can also download them as HTML or PDF versions and buy them online from Chapters or Amazon.

Invent Your Own Computer Games with Python

This will be our main text for the Python portion of the courses. We will be working through several of the game exercises in this book.

Think Python: How to Think Like a Computer Scientist

We will use this text for several chapters in the Python portion of the courses.

We will use this course for a few sections.

An additional book you might want to check out now for early review is O’Reilly’s Head First Programming - which is available to read online if you have a Toronto Public Library card - we will look at how to access this in in class. It's a very good book for someone who is totally new to programming.

The Python Tutorial - http://docs.python.org/tutorial/index.html  is also a great fast moving tutorial for someone with some programming experience.

Later we will be looking at other online documentation and a couple of other books - for instance Python Multimedia which will help us learn how to use OpenGL and multimedia.
